10 Day Wildlife Safari Masai Mara and Tsavo National Parks

This 10 Day self-drive road trip will start with hiring a safari vehicle in Kenya and it will involve visiting different interesting destinations in the country. The safari will start with visiting Nairobi National Park, later go for Masai Mara game reserve, Tsavo East National Park, and Tsavo West National Park, and then drive back to Nairobi to meet your departure flight.

Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi

On this day, you will arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport – in Nairobi Kenya and you will be welcomed by an agent from 4×4 Self Drive Africa Ltd who will help carry your luggage up to your 4×4 safari vehicle. You will be briefed about how the vehicle works and then sign the car rental agreement, later you will be set to start your self-drive safari by transferring to Nairobi city where you will get a chance to explore the city and know how the Kenyans spend their life and explore some attractions in the city like the museum and others.

Day 2: Explore Nairobi National Park

Today after early morning breakfast at your hotel in Nairobi, you will get ready and transfer to Nairobi National Park found south of Nairobi city and is situated just a few kilometers from Nairobi city center. You will reach the park early enough for an early morning game drive in the park that will offer you a chance to spot a variety of animals in the park, like buffalo, lion, giraffe, leopard, zebra, baboon, wildebeest, cheetah in addition to that the park is home to over 400 different species of birds which make it a perfect destination for bird lovers. Later you will return to the lodge for lunch. After lunch, you will get ready for an evening game drive to get a chance to see other animals you missed seeing in the morning game drive, and later you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3:Transfer to Massai Mara National Park

Wake up early morning for breakfast and later you will get ready for a 5-hour drive from Nairobi National Park to Masai Mara game reserve found in the southwestern part of Kenya along the Tanzania border. You will reach Masai Mara in the late afternoon and you check in to your lodge for relaxation and wait for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Full Day in Massai Mara National Park

Game Drive in Masai Mara Game Reserve – Kenya

On this day, you will wake up at least early enough for breakfast and then get in your safari vehicle for a morning game drive in the park. Game drives are done in the morning and afternoon because that is the time when the animals are so active. In the morning game drive, you will get a chance to spot the early raiser like the predators going to hunt for the prey and others. on this morning game drive expect to see animals like; rhinos, lions, hippos, wildebeests, giraffes, zebras, warthogs, buffalo, hyenas, wild dogs, buffalo, jackals, leopards, and all types of antelopes, and elephants. You will have a picnic lunch in the park and you continue with another game drive that will take you up to the border of Tanzania to visit the Mara River where the great wildebeest migration takes place. In the evening, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Transfer Back to Nairobi

You will wake up early in the morning for breakfast and get ready to leave this amazing park and drive 250km to Nairobi the capital of Kenya. You will reach Nairobi in the evening for lunch and later you will get a chance to explore some of the attractions in Nairobi city like David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage and Giraffe Center, museums, and also get chance to explore the nightlife in Nairobi city by visiting some of the night clubs in the city. After this amazing experience, you will return to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 6: Transfer to Tsavo East National Park

After morning breakfast at the hotel in Nairobi, you will transfer to Nairobi National Park which is found within 15 minutes drive from Nairobi City center, you will go straight for a game drive in the park where you will get a chance to see a variety of animals in the park including the big cats. After you will return for early lunch and then you will hit the road and transfer to the southern part of Kenya to Tsavo West National Park. You will reach the park a bit late evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Game Drive in Tsavo East National Park

This day will start with a heavy breakfast at your lodge and then get ready for a morning game drive in Tsavo West National Park where you will get a chance to spot a variety of wildlife in the park like zebras, elephants, giraffes, antelopes, buffalos, lions as well as different bird species. In the afternoon, you will return to the lodge for lunch and then get ready to transfer to Amboseli National Park. You will reach the park in the evening and check in to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Transfer to Tsavo West National Park

Tsavo west National Park – Kenya

On This day you will wake up early in the morning and have breakfast, later you will hit the road and transfer to Tsavo West National Park which is found in a 5hours drive from Tsavo East National Park. You will reach the park afternoon for late lunch and later you will go for an evening game drive in the park that will take something like 2-3 hours and later you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 9: Explore Tsavo West National Park

This day will be reserved for exploring Tsavo West National Park which will be the last national park to explore on your 10-day self-drive safari in Kenya. You will start with breakfast at the lodge and then get ready for a full day drive in the park where you will get a chance to see a variety of animals in the park that include Leopards, Wild dogs, Cheetah, Buffalo, Elephant, Rhino, Giraffe, Zebra, Mongoose, Lion, Crocodile, Hyrax, Lesser Kudu, Dik-dik, and Nocturnal Porcupine. Prolific birdlife features 600 species. in around afternoon you will have a picnic lunch and then continue with the game drive till evening and later you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Game Drive and Transfer back to Nairobi

The last day of the trip will start as usual with a morning breakfast and then you get ready for an early morning game drive in the park later you will return to the lodge for lunch and then get ready to hit the road and drive back to Nairobi. You will meet the representative of 4×4 Self Drive Africa Ltd at either the airport or your hotel and pick up the vehicle, or you can choose to drop it at their address in Nairobi.
